With Christmas around the corner it’s time to shop for decorations, get some gifts for friends and loved ones and feast on festive food from around the world. So get in the Christmas spirit by getting down to these markets and melas over the next few weeks.
SHADES OF INDIA, ANNUAL GARDEN SALE, 1st – 3rd DECEMBER
Bedding, clothes, table linen and accessories come together at this annual sale. Taking place at 26 Sardar Patel Marg, Chanakyapuri from 10am – 5pm. You might well recognise the name Shades of India from some shopping trips you’ve been on. The retail outlet is at 127 Mehar Chand Marg.

GERMAN CHRISTMAS MARKET, 3rd and 4th DECEMBER
The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce invites Dilliwalahs to the 18th German Christmas Market.
They’ll be over 100 stalls selling all sorts of gifts ideas and goodies that would make Santa and his elves ever so happy. Santa Claus will be there too, and there’s a magic show, decorations and a German deli too. Fun for all the family, no?
Head on over to the German House, 2 Nyaya Marg, Chankyapuri (map here) from 11am until 7pm to indulge and enjoy.
OZ HAAT MELA, PICNIC ON THE LAWN, AUSTRAILIAN HIGH COMMISSION, 3rd DECEMBER
The lawns of the Australian High Commission host the annual Oz Haat Mela and give shoppers the chance to select tribal art, pottery, textiles, home ware, jewellery, accessories, Christmas decorations and much more.
If that is not enough, there’s also a magic show, a drumming workshop, art and craft classes as well as a bouncy castle for the kids. And when you get hungry a classic Aussie BBQ will come to the rescue. And lets not forget about the Australian wines to wash it all down.

NIZAMUDDIN EAST CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL, 10TH DECEMBER
Carol singing with high fashion stalls is on the cards at the Nizamuddin East Christmas Carnival.
Santa Claus will be in attendance and he’ll be offering horse and cart rides. There also be traditional Christmas dishes and other treats. Add in stalls with special games and the Nikolina Nikoleski Dance Academy performance at 4pm and you have all the ingredients for a great day out.

ACSA HOLIDAY LIGHTS MELA, SATURDAY 10TH DECEMBER
ACSA is promising 50 unique vendors, live entertainment, activities for the kids, bouncy houses, food and a special visit for the big man in red. Yes, Santa Claus will be coming to town on Saturday 10th December between 4pm – 8pm. The event is open to American Embassy personnel, the AES community, AWA members and the Diplomatic Community.
Interested in attending, but not a member of ACSA. Then you’ll need to RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 7th with your name, country and ID number to be eligible for a ticket. WINTER WEAVES AT NATURE BAZAAR, 15th – 26th DECEMBER
Winter Weaves at DASTKAR offers festive shoppers the chance to wrap themselves up woolen weaves whilst enjoying a wide array of other winter products made by artisans from all around India.
It’s at Andheria Modh. Google maps will guide you in. Chhatarpur Metro Station, on the yellow line, is a short walk away. We love DASTKAR. It’s so much better than all the other other Dilli-Haats.
