Yum! The Old Delhi Food Festival is on the way!

Old Delhi Food Festival

Shahjahanabad, the Old City, is famed for its food and in the merry month of March there’s a food festival coming to the India Islamic Centre that’s focusing in on the wonderful cuisine of the walled city.

Old Delhi and fabulous food go hand in hand.  You don’t need me to tell you that, but what you might want to know that the cooks of Old Delhi are leaving the walled city for a weekend and congregating at the India Islamic Centre to serve you up the cuisines that every Dilliwalah just loves.

if getting around the Old City and finding out about all the magical food places that line the lanes and gullys isn’t your idea of fun, or you’ve struggled to find the places that people have talked about, then your luck might be in at this Festival!

Taking place at the India Islamic Centre over the weekend of the 25th and 26th March, this festival should be marked in the diary for serious consideration.  If your eager to find out more then head on over to the festival website on Facebook

If you’re looking to make a day of it after all that eating, you can always walk off (some) of the extra calories around Lodhi Gardens.

But if you’ve not finished with food and want some more sustinence, why not check out some of the other Mughali food kitchens that we think are wonderful?  There’s a couple just down the road in Nizamuddin.

The medieval city of Nizamuddin is also home to Delhi’s second best biscuit maker,  Aoulia’s (It was the best in 2016, but I found another one that took the title in 2017) Wondering who it is? The Golden Bakery, just of Jama Masjid, tops the list.  Check out who’s who when it comes to biscuits in this post.

So, much to eat, so little time.   But, what a great problem to have, no?
