Here’s run-down of a dozen or so events happening in and around Delhi over the next week or so.  There’s a French Mela, a poetry festival, a film festival and the chance to eat some super food at Grub Fest.  Find out more about what’s going on inside.

Festivals, fairs and celebrations in the merry month of March

Anuradhapura and Varanasi: A Tale of Two at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts until the 31st March

A project initiated in 2015 to explore the shared histories within the sub-continent. Six artists from Indian and five from Sri Lanka embark on a journey to understand the politics of cities, religions and the stories that Anuradhapura and Varansai tell.  More here.

Francoaphone week and Mela at Alliance De Francaise from 16th – 18th March

French speakers and Francophiles from around the world  come together to become real “Citoyens du monde” for the Francophonie Festival.   There’s film festivals, theatre, live music acts and, of course, the much awaited Francophone Mela!  More on the website.

Hundred Pipers Play for a cause – The Dire Straits Experience on 17th March

The Dire Straits Experience’, performing live for the first time in India, support the 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’ initiative that provides sustainable drinking water to villagers in Rajasthan. Featrures original Dire Straits band mates Chris White, Chris Whitten and Terence Reis (lead vocals and guitar).  More information at Book My Show.

Indie Art Week until the 19 March, South Delhi

This week long festival brings together artists, actors and musicians in Chattaphur for a week-long celebration of independent artists.  What to know what’s what and how you can get tickets, then head on over to Facebook.

Poetry Festival at the India International Centre from 17 March – 19 March

A celebration of poetry and literature, this 3 day festival founded in 2012 promotes Hindi and Urdu literature.   Readings, discussions and awards, returning to the India International Centre in 2017.   For more information and to register, visit the website.

Learn to grow Microgreens on the 19th March

TED Mist at DilliHaat, Janakpuri, on 19 March

Talks, discussion and debate with speakers including Tanvie Hans, who is bringing the beautiful game to in India after a sparkling career at Tottenham Hotspur Women’s FC, and Fatima Lodhi, a social activist from Pakistan, whose fighting colourism amidst a society obsessed with fair skin.  More information about this event on Facebook.

Classical music fusion at the Indian International Centre on the 19 March

Ragaffaire, an Indo-Canadian fusion band presenting a repertoire of semi-classical songs and fusion music. Sitar, flute, tabla, guitar and bass guitar come together at Amaltas, at the Indian Habitat Centre.

World Press Photo Awards 2016 from 22 March until 3rd April

An  exhibition of prize winning photographs from the World Press Photo Contest 2016. An annual contest on photojournalism and documentary photography  by the World Press Photo Foundation.  For more information visit the India International Centre website.

Jahan e Khusrau, 24th – 26th March

The Parrot of India, Amir Khusrau, Sufi musician, scholar and poet, spiritual disciple of  Nizamuddin Auliya, and the father of the qawwali, is an iconic figure in the cultural history of the subcontinent.  His work will be celebrated over three days.   More information on Facebook.   Contact the organisors on Facebook for ticket information.
